Day 37 Pershore to Evesham

Sunday 4 August and we've arranged to meet Jan's cousin Roger and family who will cruise with us from Pershore to Evesham.

MUST be a record! 14 ducklings

Yolk Ditch off to the right.  Tiddle Widdle Island ahead - who thought up these names??

 Hi Kezzie!

Approaching Wyre lock, with the old mill ahead. We go to the right

Dragon boat and oarswomen, passing us at a cracking pace

Roger and Jan waiting for the lock, after Roger steered Catnap across the two weir streams

Niki in position to manage the bow line

Kezzie and Denis closing the bottom gate

Kezzie opening the top gate, while Roger holds the bow.  The lock is diamond shaped, which can make keeping the boat steady a little tricky

Mr and Mrs Sneyd have been volunteer lock keepers for 37 years!

Mary Sneyd sells paintings to raise money for the Avon Navigation Trust - Jan bought this

Pauline steering, quickly getting the hang of it

 Heron weathervane

Niki looking after the bow line in Fladbury lock

 Kezzie

Flood markers - the top one shows where the water reached in July 2007

Lock keeper and helpers at Fladbury, as Catnap and another boat rise up in the lock

 Spectacular cedar of Lebanon

Moored at Craycombe Turn for lunch, a well deserved rest

 Roger with Catnap

Niki and the next lock, Chadbury, in view

Weir stream coming from the left - we're aiming for the lock ahead

In the lock by ourselves this time, Niki on the bow line

Waiting for the lock to fill

 Pretty vintage cruiser

 Kezzie and Roger
